Virginia is home to one of the greatest state park systems in the country.
Virginia State Parks are consistently rated the best in the nation. 2017 marks the 81st year since Virginia’s state parks opened, and they’ve been the backdrop for perfect family vacations ever since. Families find Virginia’s 37 state parks as diverse as the state itself, with parks found along the Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay, on historic sites, in the Blue Ridge Mountains and just outside of major cities. The parks have thousands of campsites, hundreds of cabins, more than 600 miles of trails and convenient access to Virginia's major waterways.
Most state parks offer campsites, some with with hookups - electricity, water and sewer - as well as climate-controlled cabins.
Parks also offer many special events, ranging from demonstrations on campfire cooking to weekend-long festivals that draw guests from the entire region. Enjoy the great outdoor fun.
