The Bed & Breakfast at Peace Hill Farm, originally part of the seventeenth century Peace Hill Plantation, was re-acquired by writer and historian Susan Wise Bauer fifteen years ago. Susan re-united the Bed and Breakfast with neighboring Peace Hill Farm, her family business that raises rare heritage Leicester Longwool sheep, Angora goats, ducks, and chickens.
An authentic Charles City farmhouse restored to a high standard, boasts luxury king-bedded rooms, a suite that can be used for relaxation, writing or reading, or to host additional guests, and a turn-of-the-century two bedroom cottage, the Henhouse. Experience fresh air and relaxation, gourmet locally-sourced meals, and premium wines. Walk over two miles of wooded paths, or sit in front of the fireplace and gaze out of the French doors over mature timber forests. Fish in the pond, visit the horses, and listen the sheep munch. Shop in the farm store for yarns, fleeces, fresh produce, reclaimed barnwood, and local arts and crafts. For a true country experience, book a Farm vacation and help feed the livestock, gather the eggs, and tend the orchards and gardens.
We also offers spectacular farm event spaces, with both indoor and outdoor opportunities for weddings, retreats, and gatherings.
