Captain Meriwether Payne, a Virginia Certified Ecotour Guide, will create your custom cruise departing from the quaint seaside town of Wachapreague on the Seaside of Virginia's Eastern Shore.
Seaside creeks wind through protected marshes out to the barrier islands which are part of the Virginia Coast Reserve, a biosphere reserve created by The Nature Conservancy in the early 1970s and the longest expanse of coastal wilderness remaining on the eastern seaboard of the United States.
These islands are a birders paradise, sheltering more than 250 species of raptors, songbirds, and shorebirds, which find food in the adjacent bays and salt marshes. Birding is a year round activity with winter waterfowl, spring and fall migrating shorebirds, and summer nesters. Birds aren't the only wildlife as you will also have opportunities to see sea turtles and dolphins.
Stops on the islands are easily arranged for picnics, shelling and swimming. Island taxis are available if you simply want to spend the day on the beach; or take a sunset cruise before dinner at one of our fine local restaurants.
All trips are on a comfortable, new 23' Carolina Skiff carrying up to 6 passengers on trips from 2 to 8 hours and departing from the Wachapreague Town Marina.
