The Hampton Roads Naval Museum introduces visitors to over 241 years of U.S. Naval history in Hampton Roads, Virginia. One of 10 officially operated U.S. Navy museums, reporting to the Naval History and Heritage Command, the museum houses a rich collection of authentic uniforms, weaponry, underwater artifacts, detailed ship models and artwork. The museum recently opened a new exhibit which tells the story of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, which encompasses over 4,700 square feet of gallery space in an immersive exhibit. The museum also serves as an educational resource for area commands and public schools; and provides a variety of curriculum based historical presentations for area schools, history and heritage training for area commands and is host to a robust speakers bureau. Lastly, the museum is a resource for researchers with a concise on-site non-circulating library and houses a variety of related artifacts.
The Hampton Roads Naval Museum is located on the second level of Nauticus. Admission is free.
