Originally founded as militia in 1741, the 116th Infantry Regiment distinguished itself as the Stonewall Brigade during the Civil War, fought in WWI, landed in the first waves on Omaha Beach and most recently deployed to Bosnia, Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan. It is the 7th oldest military organization in America. The foundation provides a museum for artifacts and objects of historical significance from the regiment; provides educational activities, and much more.
