The Virginia Museum of the Civil War (VMCW) interprets the 1864 Battle of New Market with emphasis on the role of Virginia Military Institute Cadets and the Civil War in Virginia. Part of the Virginia Military Institute Museum System which includes the VMCW, V.M.I. Museum and the Stonewall Jackson House. The VMCW is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. Featured exhibits include the Kaminsky Gallery of Civil War Firearms (NEW) and the Emmy-winning film Field of Lost Shoes, shown daily on the hour. The General's Store has a wide variety of regional products and an excellent book selection. Site of the state-certified Shenandoah Valley Tourist Information Center, which displays local and regional brochures.
Admission Fee: Adults $10; Senior (Age 65+) $9; Youth (Age 6-12) $6.00; Children 5 & under free. Some discount rates available. Museum and grounds are open from 9 AM - 5 PM (Closed New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Day).
