The Library of Congress Packard Campus for Audio-Visual Conservation Center acquires, preserves and provides access to the world’s largest and most comprehensive collection of films, television programs, radio broadcasts, and sound recordings. Although the preservation facility is not open to the general public for tours, visitors can enjoy movies at the Packard Campus Theater during a regular series of film and television programming in its 204 seat, Art Deco-style theater. There are usually 3 shows a week: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30 pm, with an occasional 2:00pm Saturday matinee. The state-of-the-art projection booth is capable of showing everything from nitrate film to modern digital cinema. Programs are free, but children 12 & under must be accompanied by an adult. Reservations strongly recommended.
