Do you have a bad case of "2020 cabin fever"? We'll help you get outside and start the new year off right. Explore our trails at Smith Mountain Lake State Park. Hike on your own or choose one of our ranger-guided hikes:
1:30-3:00 p.m. Striper Cove Trail/Walton Creek Trail - this hike is approximately 2 miles and is rated as moderate.
1:30-2:30 p.m. Turtle Island Trail - this hike is 1.4 miles and is rated as moderate.
1:30-2:30 p.m. Beechwood Trail - this hike is approximately 1 mile and is rated as moderate.
In order to keep everyone safe and adhere to current Covid-19 restrictions, there is a limit on the number of hikers we can take and pre-registration is required. Please bring a mask to be worn if unable to social distance from hikers outside of your family group.
This is a sun or snow event - dress for the weather, wear proper footwear, and bring water. Optional: hiking staff, binoculars, and camera. Well-behaved dogs are welcome and must be leashed at all times. Trails are not appropriate for strollers. To encourage everyone to get out to the park, parking fees are waived for the day.
