    Starting in Damascus, bike The Virginia Creeper Trail for a gentle ride that is suitable for all ages and athletic abilities. Once used by Native Americans, European pioneers, and creeping steam trains, this trail is now a hub for recreation. For more adventure at a higher altitude, drive up to Mount Rogers National Recreation Area on VA 603.

    Mount Rogers is Virginia’s highest point, standing majestically at 5,729 feet, and has over 400 miles of trails available in the area. From rare spruce-fir habitats to trickling streams and picnic sites, Mount Rogers is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream.

    Just south of Mount Rogers is Grayson Highlands State Park. Hikers and horse lovers alike enjoy taking in breathtaking views from the trails, camping at the horse campground, and seeing the wild ponies roaming free.
